OBITUARY: 
At the family home on South Commercial street at 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, Mrs. William Benson, aged 70 years, of stomach trouble. Deceased's maiden name was Elizabeth Harriman and she was born near Pittsburgh, Penn., May 9, 1825. At the age of 9 years she removed with her parents to Mount Vernon, Knox county, Ohio. On February 22, 1844, she was married to William Benson, and about five years later she removed to Henry county, Illinois. October 1876, removed to Oregon where she has since resided. At the age of 17 years she joined the Methodist church and had been a regular attendant at the various church services until illness compelled her to remain at home. 
Deceased leaves a husband and seven children, four boys and three girls, vis: Mrs. Addie Morris, of Turner; Mrs. Holcomb, Mrs. Maggie Lennon, L. W. Benson, Charles W. Benson, of Salem. 
Funeral services will be held from the family home in South Salem, at 2 o'clock tomorrow (Monday) afternoon, conducted by Rev. G. W. Grannis. Interment will be in Rural cemetery.
