OBITUARY: 

Long Time Area Rancer Dies
Funeral services were held last Saturday at the Madras Evergreen Chapel for Omar H. Borthwick, Antelope, long time central Oregon rancher and resident who died at the age of 86 years early on the morning of Nov. 9 at a Bend nursing home.
Borthwick had been under care at the nursing home for about the last three months.
Born Sept. 8, 1880 at Kinderhook, Illinois, Borthwick came west as a young man and has been a resident of the Central Oregon area since 1901.
He followed the ranching industry here until his retirement.
Surviving are a son, Eldon Borthwick, Antelope; two brothers, James of Berry, Ill., and William of Honolulu, T.H. Three grandchildren and nine treat grandchildren also survive.
The Rev. Lawrence Ferguson, pastor of the St. Mark's Episcopal church in Madras, officiated at the funeral services which were followed by interment at Mr. Jefferson Memorial Park. Judy Simmons was organist and Ronald McDonald soloist for the service.
Serving as pall bearers were Lanis R. Metteer, H. Stephen Chubb, Richard S. Forman, Ronald E. Metteer, Roy Forman Jr. and Gary Dickson.
