OBITUARY: Rd Osburn, 61, street commissioner in Dallas for the past 11 years, died suddenly at 5 p.m. Tuesday. Born Jan. 10, 1874 at Independence. Youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. John Osburn, pioneers of 1850 and 1847 respectively. Survived by widow, two [step] daughters, Mrs. Almeda Olinger of Toledo, Ore., and Dorothy Boughton of Portland; two sisters, Mrs. James Huntley of Dallas, and Mrs. Estella Switzer of Chewelah, Wash.; a brother, O. E. Osburn of Salem; nephew, Gordon Huntley of Dallas. Funeral services Friday at 1 p.m. from the Henkle and Bollman mortuary. Interment I.O.O.F. cemetery, Salem. Member of the Knights of Pythias.

Rd Osburn, street commissioner of Dallas for the past 11 years, died suddenly Tuesday at his home. Mr. Osburn had become ill with a heart attack during the afternoon and had gone to his home. Medical treatment appeared to revive him, but he relapsed a short time later and passed away about 5:00 PM. He had been suffering for some time with asthma but had continued with his work.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:00 o’clock at the Henkle & Bollman chapel. Interment will be in the IOOF cemetery at Salem.
Mr. Osburn was born at Independence on January 10, 1874, the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. John Osburn, pioneers of 1850 and 1847. Prior to taking up his work as street commissioner in Dallas he had worked for a number of years in logging camps operating donkey engines. Mr. Osburn is survived by his wife, two step-daughters, Mrs. Almeda Olinger, Toledo, and Miss Dorothy Boughton, Portland; two sisters, Mrs. James Huntley, Dallas, and Mrs. Estella Switzer, Chewelah, Wn., and one brother, O.E. Osburn, Salem. He was a member of Marion Lodge No 96, Knights of Pythias. Mr. Osburn was an ardent sports fan and supporter of the Twilight League.
