OBITUARY:
At the home of his son-in-law, G. W. Gosser, in West Salem, Thursday, June 20, 1901, at 5:20 a.m., G. W. Losey, aged 68 years, from injuries received from a fall.
On Monday afternoon, June 17th, at 1:30 o’clock, deceased was working upon the new residence of his son-in-law, G. W. Gosser, engaged in putting in a dormer window, when he was either overcome with the heat or slipped, and fell to the ground a distance of about twenty-five feet, striking upon the edge of the roof of the porch in his descent which crushed in the left side of his chest breaking six ribs. He lingered along ever since between life and death until he passed away yesterday morning.
Mr. Losey was a veteran of the Civil War but was not a member of the local G.A.R. post; he has always been a devout Christian and a member of the Baptist church and the funeral services will be conducted at the home of his son-in-law, G. W. Gosser, in West Salem, at 10 a.m. today, and Rev. Roland McKillop will probably officiate.
Mr. Losey leaves eight children to mourn his sad and sudden demise as follows: Mrs. M. B. Bond, Prescott, Arizona; Mrs. G. W. Gosser, West Salem; Mrs. Eva Grammer, Washington; Mrs. Cora Savage, Amity, Oregon; J. L. Losey and C. H. Losey, Oregon City; Geo. H. Losey, Amity, Oregon, all of whom are in the city except Mrs. M. B. Bond, who has been unable to come. It is quite probably that interment will be made in the Odd Fellow’s cemetery.
