OBITUARY:
Death of Mrs. Cherrington.
Miss Anne Bowser was born in Wisconsin in 1874, came to Oregon in 1892 and was for sometime a teacher at Eugene. In 1894 she was married to T.J. Cherrington in Salem and soon after they moved to Dallas where he has even since engaged in photography. They built a nice home and were enjoying it thoroughly until a brief year ago she became a victim of consumption. Everything possible was done for her but all in vain for she gradually grew worse and passed away last Saturday. After a funeral service at the home by Rev A.A. Winter Sunday morning she was taken to Salem for burial. Her sister, Mrs. John Maurer lives there and another sister, over in Washington. The deceased was of a genial and hospitable nature and her home was a social center. Mr. Cherrington’s son North and wife will live with him and his daughter Mrs. Winnie Chapman lives just across the street.

To Her Final Rest
Mrs. T.J. Cherrington Died on Consumption Saturday Morning
Mrs. Anne Eloise Cherrington, wife of Thomas J. Cherrington, died at her home in this city Saturday morning, February 21, 1903, at 1:40 o’clock, aged 28 years. She contracted consumption about a year ago, and her last illness was a long and painful one. She bore her affliction patiently, however, and was resigned and cheerful to the end.
Mrs. Cherrington, whose maiden name was Bowser, was born at Argyle, Wisconsin, March 24, 1874. She came to Oregon in 1892, and taught school in Lane county for some time. She afterwards made her home in Salem, and was married to Mr. Cherrington in that city June 26, 1895. The family moved to Dallas soon after, and have since made their home here. Mrs. Cherrington was a woman of culture and refinement, and was prominent in social and lode circles, being a valued member of Mistletoe Circle, No 33, Women of Woodcraft, and also of the Dallas Shakespeare Club. She always found rare pleasure in the companionship of her friends, and the people of Dallas will long have occasion to remember the many happy social hours spent beneath the hospitable roof of the Cherrington home.
She leaves a husband, two sisters, Mrs. John Maurer, of Salem, and Mrs. Thomas, of Echo, Washington; one stepson, G.N. Cherrington, and one stepdaughter, Mrs. R.L. Chapman.
The funeral service was held at the family home at 9:30 o’clock Sunday morning, and was conducted by Rev A.A. Winter, pastor of the United Evangelical Church. The floral offerings were many and beautiful, many handsome pieces coming from friends of the family living at a distance. The members of Mistletoe Circle attended the service in a body. The pallbearers were E.C. Kirkpatrick, J.C. Hayter, R.E. Williams, E.J. Bryan, Oscar Hayter and C.L. Starr. The funeral party left for Salem at 10:20 o’clock, and arrived at the Odd Fellows cemetery, south of that city, at 2:00 pm. The exercises at the grave were conducted by Dr C.C. Poling, of Dallas. A large concourse of old-time neighbors and friends of the family in Salem were present at the burial.
