DEATH CERTIFICATE:
OBITUARY:
Died, at the residence of her father, Charles Sweagle, in Salem, Oct. 14th, 1869, of consumption, sister Susannah Brown, in the 21st year of her age.
Sister Brown was born March 4th, 1848, in Fulton county, Illinois. The same year her parents removed to this State, where she has ever since lived. In 1863 she was married to Mr. Samuel Brown, of this county. During a revival of religion in the M. E. Church here last winter, both she and her husband presented themselves as seekers, but neither obtaining a satisfactory evidence, they did not then unite with the Church. During her sickness, however, and about ten days before her death, she embraced this privilege, and was baptized and received the sacrament of the Lord’s supper. Very soon after participating in this last solemn rite, she received a joyous evidence of acceptance with God. From that hour until released by death, her fellowship with Christ was unbroken. She literally triumphed over death as she felt his approach. Her last audible expression was "Glory to God". S. Salem, Oct. 19th, 1869.
