Oregon Statesman 1 December 1872 3:1

FUNERAL TRAIN. A very large number of friends followed the remains of the late John Byrne, to its last resting place yesterday. As the procession moved slowly through the streets, a deep silence and hush of busy life, bespoke, plainer than words, the reverence for the dead. The presence of death, reminds us that we, at any time may be called from earth, and add another sepulcher to life's final home, the city of the dead.
