1880 OR CENSUS - J. B. Beckner, age 59, occupation farmer, is enumerated with wife Rosetta, age 52, b. Indiana, along with Elma Landrum [identified as daughter], age 20, b. Oregon, and Lena Landrum [identified as granddaughter], age 3, b. California, and Eva Landrum, [identified as granddaughter], age 8 months, b. Oregon.

OBITUARY: 
At the family home of Mr. and Mrs. A. L. Beckner, Clear Lake, Marion county, Ore., Thursday Jan. 23, 1902, J. B. Beckner, aged about 82 years.
Deceased was born April 15, 1820, Roanoke county, Virginia. He moved to Laporte, Ind., when a boy, and came to Oregon in 1852. He leaves two sons, W. S. Beckner of Salem, and A. L. Beckner of Clear Lake, and a daughter, Mrs. Elna A. Borchert of Los Angeles. Mr. Beckner was a member of the Dunkard church and settled and disposed of all his estate before his death. Mrs. Beckner died a little over a year ago at the residence of her son in this city. Funeral services Saturday at ten o’clock by Rev. Lovell, of Brooks. Burial at Rural cemetery.
Mr. Beckner was one of the Oregon pioneers and was known by a large circle of friends as a conscientious and straightforward man.

BECKNER -- At the home of his son, H. L. Beckner, at Clear Lake, near Brooks, Oregon, Thursday, January 23, 1902, at 5 a.m., J. B. Beckner, aged 82 years, of infirmities attending old age. Deceased was a native of Roanoke county, Virginia, where he was born April 15, 1920. At the age of 12 years he removed with his family to Indiana, and there on May 15, 1845, he was married. Of the fruits of that union two sons and one daughter are living -- A. L. Beckner, of Clear Lake, and W. S. Beckner of Salem and Mrs. Elma Borchert, of Los Angeles. His life partner died in this city about a year ago.
Deceased was a member of the Dunkard church. He was a pioneer, having come to Oregon in 1852, and enjoyed a wide acquaintance and a large circle of friends among the old settlers in the Willamette valley. The funeral services will be held at the home of A. L. Beckner, at Clear Lake, at 10 a.m. tomorrow, conducted by Rev. Lovell, of Brooks. Interment will be had in the Rural cemetery, south of this city.
