Vera Ruthbert Madden
July 13, 1903-Nov. 23, 1996. 
Portland - Vera R. Madden, 93, former longtime Salem resident, died Saturday in Portland. She was born in Dayton, Wash., and graduated from the Deaconess Nursing School in Portland. She was a longtime Salem resident. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church, and the Eagles and Vetrans of Foreign Wars Auxiliaries. Her husband, Loren White, died in 1951. She married Vernon Madden in 1971; he died in 1975. Survivors include her sones, Robert C. White of Keizer, Loren J. White of St. Louis, Mo., and Franklin D. White of Lake Havasu City, Ariz.; daughters, Gloria Zoesch of Portland, Eleanor M. Thompson of Turner, and Luella R. Geider of Pleasant Hill; stepdaughter, Eileen Gentzkow of Salem; stepson, Ellis B. White of Kennewick, Wash.; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. today in Pioneer Cemetery, Salem. Arrangements are by Rigdon-Ransom mortuary, Salem.
