DEATH CERTIFICATE:
OBITUARY:
Daniel Lee Green was born in Rensaler [sic] county, New York, April 10, 1838, and came to Salem on Christmas day, 1847.
He was married to Miss Henrietta Burton, October 30, 1861, and to this union were born 9 children, three of whom survive him, namely: Mrs Henry Schultz of Salem; Mrs. George Ritchie, of Gresham, Nebr.; and Detile Greene of La Grande, Oregon.
Mrs. Greene died November 22, 1901.
The funeral was held from Rigdon & Richardson's chapel Monday by Reb. H. E. Marshall.  Mr. Greene was a member of the Baptist church of this city and was a bright Christian who possessed hosts of frends who will mourn his death.
Daniel L. Greene was a man who has probably helped more people, financially and otherwise, than anyother man of his position in the state during his lifetime, was buried in the Odd Fellows cemetery.
Mr. Greene was a charter member of the American order of the United Workmen and of the Knights of Phythias of this city and was a man who lived up to his fraternal obligations to the best of his ability.
When assistance was needed by a sick brother, Daniel Greene was one of the first to offer his services and according to a member of the K. of P., usually Mr. Greene was the man who was given the job.  He was a friend of every child and animal in the city, and according to a freind, had a menagerie at his home where every stray cat, dog, or bird, might find a hearty welcome.
A few faithful friends were present to show their last respects, emough for pall bearers.  A few flowers found their way upon his casket from children and men he had befriended but the chapel at Rigdon's & Richardson's was noticably empty of sorrowful faces.
