OBITUARY: DEATH of J. H. ATWOOD -- Occurred After a Long Illnes Tuesday. J. H. Atwood, who died at his home at Twenty-first and Mill streets Tuesday afternoon, has been a resident of Salem for nine years. He leaves a widow, Mrs. Martha Atwood, a son, C. J. Atwooe, a clerk in the Woolen Mill Store, and three daughters, Mrs. Anna D. Mc Pherson of University Park, Portland; Mrs. Linnie M. Lee and Miss Helen M. Atwood of this city. He had been a member and ardent worker in the Methodist church and Sunday school, teaching a bible class in the latter. He was born in Massachusetts on Nov. 24th, 1838 and was married in 1857. His profession was teaching, he having conducted schools in Enfield, Mass., Onarga, Illinois and Springfield, Mass. Funeral services will be held at the family home Thursday at 10 a.m., conducted by Rev. John Parsons. Interment will be in the Odd Fellows' cemetery.
