OBITUARY:
BENNETT -- At her home at 224 Front street, in Salem, Wednesday morning, August 21, 1889, of over work, Mrs. Mary Bennett, aged 65 years. Mrs. Bennett was a lady who had many ups and downs in this world. She has been a resident of Oregon for the past 17 years and most of that time has resided in Salem. She has been married three times, marrying the last time at Astoria. For the past two years her health has been failing and about one week ago she became dangerously ill, and yesterday morning at 3:30 o'clock she folded her arms in death. The physicians claim that her death was caused from over work as she was a very industrious worker and not being in extra financial condition she over taxed her strength. She leaves one son, Sid Brodie, who has resided with her here, her other children being married [and] in different parts of the state. She was a member of the St. Paul's Episcopal church. The funeral services will be held at the residence today at 2 o'clock, Rev. J. A. Sellwood officiating, after which the body will be laid to rest in the Odd Fellows' cemetery.
