1870 OR CENSUS - Mary Bonter, age 21, black, b. Missouri, is enumerated in the home of J. Williams, black, age 70, Gardner, b. Va., and Nancy Williams, black, age 65, b. Kentucky, along with husband Jack, black, age 25, occupation painter, b. Kentucky and Wm., black, age 4, b. Oregon, and George, black, age 2, b. Oregon.
Mary Parks twin brother, Marion Parks (13 Sep 1850 - 5 Dec 1868), is buried in the same lot (191)
Mary Parks married Jackson Bonter in Salem in 1865. The Rev. Obed Dickinson, pastor of the Congregational Church, officiated. She was the mother of three of children: William, who died in 1877 at the age of nine years and ten months; George, who lived to maturity; and Rosetta, who died in 1880 at the age of ten years and eleven months. Mary died of tuberculosis in 1870. (Perseverance, 32-33). West-facing epitaphs.
