OBITUARY: 

DALLAS MAN IS FOUND DEAD IN LODGING FRIDAY 
Dallas, Jan. 29 -- T. J. Cherrington, aged about 80 years, was found dead in his room in the Wilson building above the Hayter book store Friday afternoon. It is thought that death was due to heart failure and that death took place sometime Thursday afternoon. The body was found by Breese Gibson, old friend of Cherrington, who went up to see him. Mr. Cherrington had been in apparently good health. His only child, Mrs. Lynn Chapman, left Thursday by auto with her husband for Long Beach, California, for a winter trip. Efforts are being made to locate them en route. 
Cherrington came to Dallas from Salem about 30 years ago and opened a photograph gallery. He retired from this work about 15 years ago. A son, North Cherrington, was a Dallas druggist. He later went east and entered the wholesale drug business. He died about a year ago. 
Funeral arrangements are held up pending word from Mrs. Chapman.

FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FROM DALLAS 
Dallas, Feb. 1 -- Funeral services were held in Dallas Monday for T. J. Cherrington and Forrest Guthrie, well known local men who died suddenly last week. Mr. Cherrington’s funeral was held at 10 o’clock at the Henkle chapel with burial in Salem. Mr. Guthrie’s funeral was held at 2 o’clock with burial in the Dallas (sic) cemetery. THOMAS J. CHERRINGTON
Thomas Jefferson Cherrington, well known resident of Dallas for the past 30 years, died suddenly in his apartments in the Wilson building sometime Thursday, January 27. The body was found on Friday when Breese Gibson, an old friend dropped in to chat with him. Death was due to heart failure.
Mr. Cherrington was born at Gallipolis, Ohio, Januray 25, 1845. He was married to Harriet J. Strawn in 1873. Mrs. Cherrington died on December 6, 1892, in Salem. He later married Anna Bowser in 1894 and she died in Dallas in 1903.
As a boy, Mr. Cherrington served with the home guards in southern Ohio during the Civil War.
Mr. Cherrington took up the photograph business, locating at Marysville, Ohio. He came to Oregon in 1886, locating at Salem.
Mr. Cherrington moved his family to Dallas just 30 years propr to his death, opening a photograph studio in the Wilson block. He remained in business until 1913, when he retired.
Two children were born to his first marriage, G. N. Cherrington who died in New YOrk City on August 30, 1925 and Mrs. Winnie Chapman of Dallas. Mrs. Chapman, a sister, Mrs. Mary A. Martin of Seattle, Wash., and a grand daughter, Barbara Chapman, are his nearest surviving relatives.
Funeral services were held Monday at the Henkle chapel with Rev. Ben J. Kimber officiating. The parlors were filled with old friends gathered to pay their last respects to Mr. Charrington [Cherrington]. The body was buried in the Oddfellows cemetery at Salem.
