DEATH CLOSES LONG CAREER OF OREGON DOCTOR
HARRISBURG, Ore. (AP) - Dr. Daniel C. Clark, 82 who said only a few days ago he would not retire "until they put me in a box," died Wednesday at his home here.
Dr. Clark, who came here to practice in 1910 was among the oldest active physicians in the state.
He was forced to bed by illness a few days ago and he failed rapidly.
He estimated that in his 45 years of practice here he had delivered more than 1,500 babies - a greater total than the present population of the town.
Dr. Clark was born near Salem in December, 1873, and received his medical education at Cooper College, now a part of Stanford University, and at Willamette University.  He practiced at Stayton, Silverton and Eugene before going to Harrisburg.
Survivors include the widow, a daughter and two grandsons all at Harrisburg.

DEATH CLAIMS DR. CLARK, 82 HARRISBURG, ORE. 
Dr. Daniel C. Clark, 82, active in the practice of medicine until a few days ago, died Wednesday at his home here. 
He opened his practice here in 1910 and was among the oldest active physicians in the state. Only a few days ago he said that despite occasional illness he would not retire "until they put me in a box." He added, "My office hours are still 24 hours a day." Illness forced him to his bed a few days ago and he failed rapidly. In his 45 years of practice here he estimated he had delivered more than 1,500 babies - a number greater than the present population of the town. 
Dr. Clark was born on a donation land claim near Salem on Dec. 15, 1873 and received his medical education at Cooper College, now a part of Stanford University, and at Willamette University. Before coming here he practiced at Stayton, Silverton and Eugene. His widow, a daughter and two grandsons, all of Harrisburg, survive.
