OBITUARY: 

Sports Goods Figure Dead

William Everett Anderson, owner-operator of Anderson’s Sporting Goods store for many years, died Thursday in a Salem hospital at the age of 79. He had been hospitalized since suffering a heart attack three weeks ago. Anderson, 1577 Court St NE, was born in Salem on March 17, 1881, son of William R. and Amanda Anderson, pioneers in this area. He was employed as a young man at Buren and Hamilton Furniture Store and later went to work for Watt Shipp in the sporting goods store which he later purchased. He sold it two years ago to Harvey Fox. Anderson and Nora L. Anderson were married in 1909. She is his only survivor. Services will be 3:30 pm Saturday in Virgil T. Golden chapel, Dr R.M. Steiner officiating.
