1860 CENSUS of South Salem shows J. O'Donald age 33, carpenter and wife C. age 30, b. Pennsylvania, along with children: W. H. (male) age 9 b. IA; twin daughters both age 4 and names beginning with E.; and a son ? Age 6 months -- last three children b. in Oregon 
1880 CENSUS of East Salem shows the family of Jonathan O'Donald, age 53 b. Pennsylvania (carpenter) and his wife Eliza age 44 b. Illinois and three children: Annie age 12, Frank age 10 and Harry age 8 -- all born in Oregon. William Perry, age 32, an iron moulder is living with the family. 
The 1881 Oregon State Directory shows: O'Donald, J., carpenter, High st., between Trade and Mill.

OBITUARY: 
O'DONALD -- Jonathan. 
Judge J. O'Donald, aged 83, died yesterday morning at his home Thirteenth and Hoyt streets, after a lingering illness that had extended over a period of two years. 
Judge O'Donald was born in the state of Pennsylvania. He crossed the plains in 1852, and settled in the vicinity of Salem, where he has resided ever since. 
He leaves to survive him a wife and two children, Mrs. A. C. Wyman of San Fransisco, and Frank O'Donald, of this city.
 The funeral services will be held at the chapel of the Rigdon undertaking parlors this afternoon, at 2 o'clock. They will be under the auspices of the Masonic lodge and interment will be had in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.
