OBITUARY:
Died, at the parent's residence, in Salem, Oregon, Feb 26, 1876, Mrs. Mary E. Leininger, wife of W. H. Leinger, and daughter of Wesley and Rebecca Graves, aged 27 years.
Mrs. L. was born in Illinois; came with her parents to Oregon in 1852, was married to Mr. Leininger, in 1867.
During a long and severe illness (consumption) she ever manifested an unusual spirit of submission to the Divine will. December 23, 1875, despairing of being able to attend the services of the church of her choice, she requested the ministration of its sacraments at her room. She there received the ordinance of Christian baptism, was admitted a member of the M. E. Church, at the same time dedicating her only child, Minnie, aged six years, to the Lord in baptism. In company with her father and family she then partook of the Lord's supper. The remainder of her life was accompanied with a marked religious experience. The last few hours of her life gave to the church and to the world another instance of a complete Christian triumph. She seemed in mind as one just starting on a journey. She bade her relatives and friends an affectionate farewell, and fell asleep in peace. H. M. Sexton.
