BIOGRAPHICAL: The family story is that the Whealdons (Alfred and Dorothea, nee Newton) traveled the Oregon Trail with the Swanks, and that Susan Swank married Dorothea's brother Newton near Salem Oregon. I've seen the Swank headstone near the Whealdon headstones in Sand Ridge Cemetery near Albany. Source - Bradford Newton
