OBITUARY:  Earl R. Jefferson -- Silverton -- Earl R. Jefferson, of Silverton, 98, died Wednesday. He was born in Gervais, a son of the pioneer family of Willard and Lavina Howland Jefferson, and was a longtime resident of the North Howell area. He worked for many years as a sawyer at the Sam Kaufman mill in North Howell, and later farmed with his father until retirement. Survivors include his sisters, Bernice Belieu, Toledo and Irene Russ, Portland. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Barrick mortuary, Salem.
