OBITUARY: Gen. John S. Zeiber, at one time U. S. Surveyor General for the State of Oregon, died suddenly at his home yesterday afternoon.
Mr. Zeiber was at work in his field until late in the afternoon, when he came in and complained to his wife that he did not feel well, that he had a pain near the heart. He had hardly spoken the words before he fell dead. Mr. Zeiber was a man of sterling integrity, and highly respected by all who had the pleasure of his acquaintance. He was an honored member of Chemeketa Lodge of Odd Fellows. General Zeiber was the father of Mr. Al Zeiber, of the Clarendon Hotel, Portland, and also the father of Mrs. A. Bush, deceased.
