OBITUARY:  SILVERTON - Mary was born to James and Eva Reiter in Albany, Oregon, where she also attended elementary school. While she was in middle school, the family moved to Salem where she graduated from Salem High School in 1939. She attended Business College and worked as a stenographer for attorneys, real estate, Interstate Tractor Company and the State of Oregon.  She met Frank Johnson in 1943 and they married on March 13, 1944. Frank and Mary then started the family farm in Silverton.  Mary enjoyed ceramics, bowling and golf.  She was a loyal wife, mother and grandmother. Mary is survived by husband, Frank Johnson of Silverton; son and daughter-in-law, Marlan and Linda Johnson of Silverton; grandson, Brice Johnson of Silverton; and granddaughter, Heather (Scott) Shetler of Brooks. She was preceded in death by son, Gary; brother, Orland Reiter; and sister, Opal Kinney. There will be a visitation from 3 to 7 p.m. on Monday, August 4, 2008 and a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, August 5, both at Unger Funeral Chapel in Silverton. Private interment is at Salem Pioneer Cemetery.
