CHINESE FUNERAL HELD YESTERDAY
A Chinese funeral was held over the remains of Ah Bing, an aged Chinaman, yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock.  Hundreds of punctured slips through which the devil must travel before the funeral cortege arrives at the graveyard, according to the ruling of Mohammed, were distributed about the streets and the usual amount of fried rice and roast duck was laid upon the grave.  According to local Chinamen, Ah Bing was too poor to have much of a funeral.  It is said that the celstial smoked opium until he became too feeble to hold the pipe.  Then he died.
