1860 OH CENSUS - William Chambers, age 40, occupation laborer, b. New York, is enumerated with wife Dorcas, age 30, b. Pennsylvania, along with John, age 13, b. Pennsylvania, Robert, age 11, b. Pennsylvania, James, age 10, b. Pennsylvania, Joseph, age 8, b. Pennsylvania, Pollie, age 6, b. Pennsylvania, and Starr, age 3, b. Pennsylvania.

OBITUARY: 
CHAMBERS – At the home of his son, Robert Chambers, about three miles south of Salem, Friday, March 18, 1898, William J. Chambers, aged 79 years, 1 month and five days, of paralysis.
Deceased was born in Cayuhoga county, New York, and belonged to the 19th [29th] Ohio volunteers, serving his country for three years in the late rebellion.
Mr. Chambers came to Oregon in 1890 and has since made his home with his son, south of the city. He is the father of six children, three of whom have preceded him to the grave. The three surviving children are: Robert Chambers, of this county; Starr C. Chambers and Mrs. Polly A. McCabe, of Ackron county, Ohio.
Deceased has two brothers residing in this state and was the uncle of Wm. Chambers, of Portland.
Funeral services will be conducted at the residence at 1 p.m. Sunday, Rev. G. W. Grannis officiating. The remains will be given burial in Rural cemetery.
