OBITUARY: CHERRINGTON
At home on North Commercial street, Tuesday morning, December 6, 1892, from heart failure, Mrs. Hattie Cherrington, aged 44 years.
Deceased was the wife of T. J. Cherrington, of this city, and had many friends who unite in grieving over the death of a good woman. She had been sick only about three weeks and her death was quite unexpected.
Mrs. Cherrington leaves two children, Winnie and North. Two of her sisters live in Kingston, Ohio, and her parents and a brother are residents of Logan, Ohio. Deceased was married to Mr. Cherrington in Logan, Ohio, and since 1886 they have made their home in Salem. She was one of the most earnest members of Sedgwick W. R. C., No. 1 of this city. The funeral will be held today from the Congregational church at 2 p.m. sharp, Rev. P. S. Knight officiating. The interment will be in Rural cemetery.
Weekly Oregon Statesman 9 December 1892 8:6
At the home on Commercial street, Tuesday morning, December 6, 1892, Hattie, wife of Thomas J. Cherrington, from gallstones passing through the liver, age 44 years. Deceased was a native of Logan, Ohio, where she was married to Mr. Cherrington, who with two children, North and Winnie, survive her. She was a member of the Woman’s Relief Corps in Ohio and also at Salem, where the family located six years ago. Mrs. Cherrington was a devoted wife and mother, and her death is very unexpected, as she was a woman possessed naturally of a strong constitution. Thus another family circle is cast in gloom by the ruthless hand of death. The funeral of Mrs. Cherrington will be held at the Congregational church, Wednesday at 2 o’clock p.m., Rev. P. S. Knight officiating.
