OBITUARY: THE BODY FOUND - Yesterday evening about 5 o'clock as the steamer Elwood was close to Lincoln on her way to Salem, the crew's attention was called to an object in the water, which, upon investigation, proved to be the body of a Chinaman. It was immediately identified as the body of Chung Ah Chong, the Celestial who, after filling his pockets with stones, jumped off the old Gilbert Bros.' wharf into the river and drowned on April 30th last. The coroner, J. S. Stott, at Gervais, was notified as soon as the steamer arrived, and will take charge of the body soon as possible, as it was not removed from the place where it was found by L. Abrams, the storekeeper of Lincoln.
