OBITUARY:
CHITTENDEN--At the family home of his grandmother, Mrs. R. E. Sayre in this city, corner of Chemeketa and 14th streets, at 10:45 o'clock, Thursday, October 12, 1899, from the effects of an accidental scalding, Legene, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. Chittenden, aged 5 years and 7 months.
On Tuesday, the 10th inst., the little fellow, while playing about the family home on Mission Bottom, fell into a tub of boiling water and was badly scalded. He was brought to this city for medical treatment and was steadily improving, in fact, his complete recovery was expected in the course of a few days, but late last evening a change for the worse was noted and despite everything that could be don for him, the boy died at the hour stated.
