OBITUARY: 
At the residence of J. C. Brown, on South Commercial street, Salem, at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 5, 1898, John Cornell, aged 65 years. The cause of his death was gangrene of the foot. He was without a family and had made his home for many years at the Daniel Waldo place, and later at Mr. Brown's.  The remains will be buried at 2 p.m. today.

CORNELL - At the home of J. C. Brown, on South Commercial street, at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 5, 1898, John Cornell, aged 65 years, of gangrene of foot.
Funeral services were conducted from Mr. Brown's residence at 2 p.m. today, Reb. W. C. Kantner, officiating and the remains were interred in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.
