BIOGRAPHICAL NOTES:
"After the death of my mother [Helen Gregory Cranston], Father [Warren Cranston] married Maria Emery, who was matron of the Bishop Scott grammar school. My stepmother and Mrs. Mary B. Clopton were great chums. Bishop Morris was in charge of St. Helen's Hall along in the '70s. The principal was Mary B. Rodney. Mrs. Clopton was one of the teachers and her daughter, Maria Clopton, was a student. Maria Clopton married C. S. Jackson, for many years owner, editor and publisher of the East Oregonian and later owner and publisher of The Oregon Journal. When I came to Pendleton my mother wrote a note of introduction for me to Mrs. C. S. Jackson."

DEATH CERTIFICATE: 
OBITUARY: 
At a local hospital, Wednesday, July 3, 1918, at 6:30 o'clock at night, Mrs. Warren Cranston who was 83 years old.
Mrs. Cranston had been ill for four or five years and had been in the hospital for a year. Her death was pronounced due to apoplexy.
She leaves a step-son, C. Cranston, of Pendleton, and a step-daughter, Lida Cranston, who lives in California. She also leaves a nephew, W. P. Emery of the Waldo Hills.
The deceased was a native of England. She came to the United States 49 years ago and has lived in Marion county for 40 years.
