OBITUARY: 

R.O. Cummins, Contractor, Dies at Home
Reuben O. Cummins, 78, resident of the Salem area for 62 years, died Friday at his home 1060 Mill St. He was a retired contractor.
Cummins was born Nov. 10, 1879, in Tipton, Iowa, and came to Salem in 1894.; He operated a river scow service for a time here in association with his brother, D.L. Cummins, and was in the contracting business for many years. He excavated for the Masonic Temple in downtown Salem and also did contracting work on projects at the State Hospital and State Prison. The deceased was at one time a member of the Salem fire department.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Ramona Young, Portland; two sons, Arthur Cummins, Salem, and Orison Cummins, Portland; sisters, Mrs. Nellie Moon, Bakersfield, Calif.; Mrs. Florence Schmidt, Stayton, and Mrs. Vida Rollins, of California; brothers, D.L. Cummins, Salem, and W.H. Cummins, Topeka, Kan. and five grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are in care of Virgil T. Golden Mortuary.

Services will be held Monday, Sept. 23rd at 1:30 p.m. in the chapel of the Virgil T. Golden Co. Interment, Pioneer Cemetery. Casket will be open to friends until 1 p.m. at the Golden Chapel.
