OBITUARY:
DIPPELL-- At the home of her daughter, Mrs. S. S. Vandersol, corner of Commercial and Union streets, Salem, at 1 o’clock a.m., Friday, April 17, 1891, Mrs. Henry Dippell, aged 72 years, 1 month and 13 days. Deceased, whose maiden name was Tillmann, was born in Prussia on the 4th day of March, 1819, and came to America in 1852, making her home in Philadelphia, where she was united in marriage to Henry Dippell. In October 1870, they removed to Oregon, since which time this city has been their home.
Mr. Dippell preceded her to the grave by nearly six years, having died July 5, 1885. The result of this union was one child, Mrs. Vandersol, who survives to mourn the loss of a loving mother.
Mrs. Dippell was ill but a short time, having been taken a week ago last Tuesday with a severe cold, which developed into la grippe. She was able to be up and around until a week ago, when her ailment took the form of pneumonia.
She became a Christian nearly fifty years ago, when residing in Philadelphia. Her devotion and earnestness were such that she thereby won her husband to Christ. During her residence of twenty years in this city by her exemplary, consistent, Christian life she won the confidence and esteem of all who knew her, and during her short illness she expressed her confidence and hope in the rest awaiting her in that heavenly home. The funeral services will be conducted at the Evangelical church, of which she was a member, at 2 p.m. today. Oregon Statesman 18 April 1891 4:3
