BIGRAPHICAL - regarding the parents of George Disbrow (source - The Hood River County Sun, Hood River, OR., August 25, 1937, page 4):
"Algernon Disbrow and his wife, the former Mary Ann Godard, came by train to the Hood River Valley in the summer of 1887. They had journeyed from Taopi, South Dakota, where their little daughter, Pearl, had been born on May 8, 1883. She can't remember an earlier trip parents had taken her upon, to Chicago when only a year old, but the train ride across the continent to Oregon is still fresh in her mind.
Disbrow, a farmer all his life, took a homestead in the Barrett district, but was not yet ready to settle down. In 1892 the family returned to South Dakota, and the following year moved to Nebraska by way of covered wagon. Finally, in 1894, when Pearl was 11 years old, they came here to settle permanently".
[Algernon and Mary are buried in Monroe Cemetery, Benton Co., Oregon]
