1860 CENSUS - M. E. Foreman, age 24, b. Ohio, is enumerated with her husband J. Foreman, age 23, farmer, b. Illinois, along with Asa, age 1, b. Illinois.
2nd MARRIAGE - Mrs. Mary E. Foreman md Samuel D. Gibson 26 Mar 1868 in Pike Co., Illinois.
1880 CENSUS - Mary E. Gibson, age 42, b. Ohio, is enumerated with her husband Samuel D. Gibson, age 43, occupation farmer, b. Illinois, along with Frank Gibson, age 12, b. Oregon, and Asa L. Foreman [identified as step-son of Samuel], age 21, b. Illinois.
DISCREPANCY - Census records give her birthplace as Ohio, DC as Illinois
DISCREPANCY - DC and Marker give year of birth as 1839 - family says she was born in 1837, which is more in line with what is indicated in the census records.

BIOGRAPHICAL from Marlene Hirons: Mary Ellen Gibson was the widow of of Jeremiah Foreman who served in the Civil War; she then was widow of Samuel D. Gibson; she was b. 1837 in Ohio and d. Rickreal, Polk Co., Oregon at age 67; she was a sister to Henry Hirons who is buried in Lot #248.

OSBH DC (Polk County 1904) #1053 - Mary E. Gibson, female, widow, b. 25 Oct 1839 in Pike Co., Illinois, d. 2 Sep 1904 in Dallas, Oregon at the age of 65 y's 11 m's 22 d's, name of father Hirons, name of mother Mary E. Hirons, informant Frank Gibson of Rickreall, Oregon.
OBITUARY: 
At Rickreal, on Friday night, September 2, 1904, of a complication of diseases, Mrs. M. E. Gibson, wife of the late S. D. Gibson, aged 58 years. Deceased came to Oregon in 1867, and was married the same year. Her husband died in 1897, and but one son, Frank, Survives her. The funeral will be held on Sunday at 1 o’clock and the remains will be interred in the Rural cemetery. The neighborhood loses a good woman, one held in highest respect by all.

At the farm of Mr. Frank Gibson, at Rickreal, Polk county, Mrs. M. E. Gibson, relict of the late Hon. S. D. Gibson, aged 58 years. Deceased was Miss M. E. Hirons, and was married in Pike county, Illinois, in 1867, and came to Oregon in the same year. She leaves only one son, Frank Gibson, her husband having died in 1897. The funeral will take place at Rural Cemetery, and the services will be conducted by Rev. David Errett. The cortege will leave the house at 10 o’clock today.
