Funeral services for Alvan L. Godfrey, 61, who died Saturday in Portland will be held Tuesday at 1:30 from the W. T. Rigdon chapel.
Mr. Godfrey was born in 1882 in Albany and he came to Salem with his parents when a child. He was actively engaged in the plumbiing business in Salem for 25 years and moved to the Oregon coast in 1931 where he established a popular fishing resort on the Nehalem river. For the last year and a half he had lived at Multnomah station. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 167, at Wheeler and of the Salem Elks Lodge.
Survivors are the widow, a son, Fred G. Godfrey [Kurtz] of Salem, a daughter Mrs. C. C. Peyton of Multnomah, three grandchildren also three sisters, Mrs. Campbell of Portland, Mrs. Kate McClanahan of Oakland, California, and Miss Emma Godfrey of Salem; a niece, Mrs. Ray Lucas of Portland and a nephew, Richard Campbell of Oakland, Caifornia. Burial will be in the family lot at the IOOF cemetery. Rev. George Swift will officiate.
