OBITUARY:

MRS. G. B. GRAY PASSED AWAY.
Succumbed to Disease at 5 o’clock Yesterday Morning, After a Few Days Illness.
Mrs. George B. Gray, wife of Salem’s well known hardware merchant, died at the family home at No. 261 Thirteenth street; at 5 o'clock yesterday morning, from peritonitis, after an illness of but a few days.
Mrs. Gray was down town shopping as late as Friday, when she was apparently in as good health as usual. She became ill about 9 o’clock that evening, and grew rapidly worse, until Tuesday evening, when the physicians gave up all hope of saving her life.
Deceased is the eldest daughter of Dr. and Mrs. C. H. Hall, and a granddaughter of the pioneer missionary, Rev. A. F. Waller, and has lived in Salem all her life.
Deceased was born in Lebanon, November 3, 1858, and came to Salem with her parents when quite young. Here she was educated in the common schools and in Willamette University, from which institution she was a graduate. She was very prominent and popular in social and church circles, and was a devout member of the First M. E. church, where she served for a time as organist. She was also an enthusiastic member of Chadwick Chapter No. 37, Order of the Eastern Star.
Deceased was married on Thanksgiving Day, 1882, to George B. Gray, the husband who survives her; she leaves in addition two daughters, Gertrude and Margaret, aged 16 and 12 years respectively; father and mother, Dr. and Mrs. C. H. Hall; a sister, Mrs. J. H. McNary, and a host of warm and loving friends to mourn her untimely demise. The funeral will be held from the family home, on Thirteenth avenue at 1:30 p.m. today, under the auspices of Chadwick Chapter No. 37, Order of the Eastern Star, Rev. John Parsons, D. D. officiating. Interment will be had in Rural Cemetery.
