OBITUARY: 

At his home in Yew Park addition, at 6 p.m., Saturday, July 21, 1894, John Green, aged 56 years. Deceased is better known as "Jack" Green and has been a citizen of Salem for several years. He has been in feeble health for some time past. 
The funeral will be held at the residence this afternoon at 3 o’clock and interment will be in Rural cemetery. He was a member of Protection lodge, No. 2, A.O.U.W., and all of its members and those of Valley lodge, No. 18, and visiting brethren are requested to attend the burial services. "Jack" was also a member of the G.A.R., having served his country during the civil war and the G.A.R.’s are expected to join in performing the last sad rites.
