J. H. Haas is also administrator for the probate of Nancy B. Pratt's estate in 1891 (see Marion County Probate File #1910) and the estate of Anton Geier in 1891 (See Marion Co. Probate File #1253).

FINE OLD PIONEER IS OPERATED UPON
Henry Haas Undergoes a Serious Operation, Has Had a Stirring History.
Henry Haas, one of the most well known pioneers of this city, one of the early jewelers, musician in the first orchestra to ever play in Salem was operated on last night and while he was reported to be resting easily nevertheless his 67 years make the operation one which is very serious. Perhaps there is no other pioneer in this section who is so widely known as Henry Haas. His life has always been closely linked with that of Salem. For years he was chief engineer of Salem's fire department and in a life of varied activity has watched and has helped Salem grow. His numerous friends are watching with great anxiety the ultimate result of the operation and of his illness.

J. HENRY HASS [Haas] DIES AT HOME IN SALEM
J. Henry Hass [Haas], 68 years of age, died at 12:20 o'clock this (Tuesday) morning at his home 795 Front street. He had been ill for some time and his death did not come as a surprise. He is survived by a wife and three children, two daughters and a son, Frank Haas. The deceased was well known in Salem, being pioneer jeweler here and had always been actively identified with the welfare of the city. Funeral announcement will be made later.

HAAS FUNERAL TODAY-- The funeral of J. Henry Haas will be held at 2:30 o'clock this afternoon from Clough's undertaking parlors. The Rev. P. S. Knight will officiate and interment will be in Odd Fellows cemetery. The German society will have exercises at the grave.
