BIOGRAPHICAL:
SON OF PIONEER IS STAYER ALSO.
George Hatch, Veteran Mail Carrier, Celebrates His 48th Birthday. "George Hatch, son of P. Hatch, who is one of Oregon's pioneers, a veteran mail carrier of the Capital City, celebrated his forty-eighth on Monday, September 11. Now there is nothing especially peculiar about celebrating a forty-eighth birthday, but in this case, Mr. Hatch celebrated his forty-eighth in the same house in which he was born, September 11, 1863. Looking back over the years that seems a long time to live in the same house. Of course he has been away but not much longer than a month at a time. September 11, 1863, saw the Oregon State fair in progress and Mr. Hatch has attended all fairs since. He has been a carrier in the Capital City for twenty-four years. His father was prominent among pioneers and held many public offices. He came to Oregon from the Hawaiian islands in 1843 and settled on the Clackamas river near Oregon City.
