1870 OR CENSUS - Anna M. Higgins, age 30, b. Maryland, is enumerated with husband, George O., age 39, farmer, b. New York, along with Amos, age 8, Veva. age 6, Minerva, age 4, and Mary, age 1, all born in Oregon.
1900 OR CENSUS - Anna Higgins, age 58, mother of 7 children, 6 of whom are living at the time of the census, b. Maryland, is enumerated with her husband of 38 years George, age 69, farmer, b. Jun 1831 in New York, along with Fannie, age 26, b. May 1875 in Oregon, Ida, age 24, b. Jan 1876 in Oregon, and George S., age 22, b. Oct 1877 in Oregon.

At their home four and one half miles south of Salem, Oregon, October 4, 1910, the 50th anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. G. O. Higgins was celebrated. Mr. Higgins was born June 9, 1831, in Syracuse, N.Y., and came to California March 15, 1855, by way of the Isthmus of Panama. He was married to Miss Anna Stuart, who was born in Maryland, January 23, 1841, and crossed the plains with her parents in 1848. The marriage took place at Sacramento, California, October 4, 1860, at her father's home. They moved to Marion county, Oregon, south of Salem, in 1869, where they have lived since. They have seven children, six living, five girls, two boys, and two grandchildren, as follows: Mr. and Mrs. Phil M. Gilham and two children, Willamina, Oregon; Mr. and Mrs. O.M. Jones, Seattle, Washington; Miss Emma M. Higgins, Kelso, Washington; Mrs. Fannie C. Chymer [Clymer], Tacoma, Washington, amd Miss Ida May Higgins, who lives with her parents, as does Mr. and Mrs. G. S. Higgins. Amos Henry Higgins, the eldest son, died. The following guests were present: Mrs. and Mrs. J. B. Parker, Independence; Dr. and Mrs. D. F. Lane, Salem; Mr. Ed Croisan, Salem Mr. and Mrs. Charley W. Barr, Salyem [Salem]; Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Ramsden, Salem; Mr. L. Huddelson, Salem; Mrs. M.C. Lewis, Salem.

DISCREPANCY: Birth year reported as 1843 on death certificate; as 1842 on marker, and as 1841 in the 50th anniversary newspaper article.
DISCREPANCY: Fathers name reported as Amos P. Stewart on death certificate, but that was actually the name of her brother; and her mother's name on the death certificate is given as Debrah McGorthlen, when in fact her maiden name may have been Deborah McGorthlen Perrin. Richard P. Day, a family researcher has supplied a narrative about the family.

OBITUARY: Anna M. Higgins, age 81 years, died Jan. 6, 1924. Funeral services will be held at the Webb Funeral parlors Thursday, Jan. 10, at 2. Rev. A. Hawthorn will have charge of service. Interment in IOOF cemetery.

Anna M. Higgins, 81 years of age, widow of the late George C. Higgins, died late Sunday evening, Jan. 6, 1924, at her home at Levesley. Survived by six children, Mrs. Deborah M. Gilliam of Roseburg, Miss Emma M. Higgins, Mrs. Mary E. Zilke, Mrs. Clymer and George F. Higgins of Salem and Mrs. Ida M. Tracy of eastern Oregon. Also four grandchildren and two great granchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon from the Webb funeral parlors at 8 o’clock. Interment IOOF cemetery. Rev. Hawthorne will officiate Capital Journal 9 January 1924 5:5
