OBITUARY:
A PIONEER GONE.
Mr. W. S. Barker, who died in this city on the 2d inst., was one of the early pioneers to Oregon. He had resided in Salem twenty-two years. His exemplary walk and proverbial honesty had endeared him to a large circle of friends. Those who knew him best praised highest his sterling qualities of honor and integrity. He has been gathered home with the early pioneers who have gone before, and tears of unfeigned sorrow bedeck the spot where he lies.
