OBITUARY: 
Lena Luella Hutchings, 53, at the residence, 1342 Waller street. Survived by widower, Roy V. Hutchings; daughters, Mrs. D. C. Mills of Jacksonville, Mrs. Fred Kolb and Mrs. Lester Farnum, both of Portland; sisters, Mrs. May Bullock of Medford, Mrs. Carrie Ives of Hillhead, S. Dak. Services will be held from the Clough-Barrick chapel at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, April 11. Rev. Guy L. Drill will officiate. Interment in IOOF cemetery. Oregon Statesman 11 April 1939 5:2 Mrs. L. Hutchings Believed Suicide; No Inquest Due in Case, County Coroner Says, Funeral is Today. No inquest will be held into the apparent suicide-death of Mrs. Lena Hutchings who was found dead Sun day night at her home, 1341 Waller street, Coroner L. E. Barrick said yesterday after investigating the case with city police officers. A jar that had contained a liquid and a bottle in which some of the drug remained was found on the body, which was discovered lying on a davenport by John M. Ryan, a neighbor, when he entered the home to ascertain shy Mrs. Hutchings had not appeared for her usual afternoon visit to the Ryan home. 
Previous Attempts Cited. 
Ryan told the officers that Mrs. Hutchings kept chloroform about her home and that she had attempted suicide twice before in the past three years, the police report stated. The report further said that Mrs. Hutchings' husband, who did not live at home, residing in an apartment at the rear, had left the house before noon Sunday in company with a daughter, Mrs. Virginia Kolb, of Portland. Two pictures of Mrs. Hutchings’ children were found near the body. Surviving beside the husband and Mrs. Kolb are two other children, Doris Farnum and Mrs. D. C. Mills, both of Portland, and two sisters, Mrs. May Bullock of Medford and Mrs. Carrie Ives of Hillhead, SD. Funeral services will be held this afternoon at 1:30 o’clock from the Clough-Barrick chapel with interment in IOOF cemetery. Rev. Guy L. Drill will officiate.
