DEATH CERTIFICATE:
OBITUARY:
DEATH of Mrs. Jackson--The announcement made yesterday forenoon of the death at Portland of Mrs. Nannie Jackson, wife of Walter Jackson, and daughter of Colonel John C. Bell, of this city, caused universal sorrow among a large circle of friends and acquaintances in this city, the former home of Mrs. Jackson. Her death was very sudden and totally unexpenced. Mr. Jackson at the time was on a business trip up the valley, having left Salem on Wednesday morning, going south. The remains will be brought to this city by this morning's train and the funeral services will take place from St. Paul's Church at 2 o'clock p.m.

A HANDSOME MONUMENT.
Mr. William Staiger of the Salem marble works has just completed the elegant monumet that is to mark the resting place of the late Mrs. Walter Jackson in the Odd Fellows Rural cemetery near this city. The design of the monument and the workmanship are alike creditable to the designer and craftsman. The column is of pure Italian marble base stone, resting upon a granite one that will ake it about twelve feet from the ground. The lettering, giving the name and age of the deceased with the date of her death is artistically cut on the column while a verse and scriptural text is marked on the marble base stone beneath. The stone was taken to the cemtery yesterday and will be placed in position today.
