OBITUARY: 

Robert Paul Keefer, 64, died Tuesday in a local hospital. Resident of 1562 Mill st, he had lived in Salem for 47 years. He had worked for 25 years at the Salem Iron Works, where he was stricken, and died soon after being taken to the hospital. Keefer was a member of Salem Machinists union and was a former member of the Artisans lodge. He was born in Knoxville, Iowa, January 8, 1887, the son of Mr and Mrs Daniel Keefer. Coming to Salem he lived in the Keizer district for a time and attended Salem high school. Survivors include the widow, Mrs Lottie E. Keefer of Salem; daughters, Mrs Frances Schaeffer and Mrs Margaret Shipman, both of Salem, and Mrs Roberta Boggs, Corvallis; three sisters, Miss Lois Keefer, Miss Mary Keefer and Mrs Ray Bunnell, all of Salem; brothers, H.S. Keefer and Victor Keefer, both Salem, Royal Keefer, Portland, and Murray Keefer, Kentucky; five grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 2 pm in the Virgil T. Golden chapel with the Rev James W. Wilson officiating. Interment will be in the IOOF cemetery.
