Farrell, age 22, occupation farm laborer, b. Ireland. 
1st MARRIAGE - Isaac J[ames]. Cross & Frances E. Martin, md 3 Feb 1870 at house of John Martin; P. S. Knight, M. G. Wit: R. C. Hawley & John Wright. Consent of Thos. Cross.

1880 OR CENSUS - Emma Cross, age 23, b. Tennessee, is enumerated with husband James Cross, age 27, laborer, b. Ohio, along with children Myrtle, age 8, b. Oregon and William age 6, b. Oregon.
DIVORCE - "Divorce Degrees and Orders -  Judge Rearden has granted Frances E. Cross a divorce from James I. Cross on the ground of his failure to provide, and the custody of their minor child was awarded to the mother." [Source -  San Francisco Bulletin 30 Sep 1886, pg 3]

Oregon, is enumerated as a rooming house landlady with several roomers, including Roy Martin, identified as her nephew, age 19, occupation factory worker (cigar maker), b. Oregon.
1920 CA CENSUS - Emma Provokuit [Provo-Kluit], age 59, widowed, b. Oregon, is enumerated as a lodger in the home of Maurice J. Byrnes, age 46, single, occupation ranch stockman, b. California, along with Myrtle M. Aurdway, age 46, divorced, b. Oregon. 
DISCREPANCY - Most census records give her place of birth as Oregon, 1880 census record gives her place of birth as Tennessee.
Funeral services for Mrs. Provokluit, who died at Tracy, Cal., February 10, will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. from the Terwilliger home. The body is expected to arrive in Salem Tuesday night. Burial in IOOF cemetery.

PROFO-KLUIT--At Tracy, Cal., Feb. 10, Emma Provo-Kluit, age 67 years. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Martin, old pioneers of Salem, her first husband was Jim Cross who died many years ago. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Joe Byrne, of Tracy, Cal.; three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Sayre of Salem, Mrs. Melissa Presley of Orton, Wash., and Mrs. A. H. Gish of Lost Nation, Iowa. Funeral services will be from the Terwilliger Home, Wednesday at 9 a.m., burial at IOOF cemetery.
