Cora Jeannette Litchfield Holman, 93, retired teacher and nurse, died Saturday in a Salem nursing home where she had been since 1960. Before going to the nursing home she had lived at 965 Summer St NE for 33 years. Mrs Holman was born in Yachats and her father was an Indian agent at Alsea. At the turn of the century, she taught in Salem area elementary schools. In 1902 she began nursing training at Good Samaritan Hospital in Portland and for many years did private duty work. Mrs Holman reportedly was the oldest living graduate registered nurse from Good Samaritan. Survivors include daughter Grace E. Williams, Escondido, Calif, and sisters Helen Litchfield and Gertrude Scott, both Salem. Services will be 1 pm Tuesday in W.T. Rigdon mortuary. Interment will be in Salem Pioneer Cemetery.
