OBITUARY: Margaret J. McCully, wife of W. H. McCully, died in Salem at 11:30 o'clock on Saturday night last, aged forty years, eleven months and twenty-five days. Her sickness was of short duration, and she passed beyond the river in a peaceful and happy state of mind. A consistent member of the Presbyterian church, her hopes were anchored on the cross, and while the separation from husband and children was painful, she parted with them feeling that they would "meet again on the shore." The funeral services took place at the 1st Presbyterian church at 2 o'clock P.M. on Monday. A large concourse of relatives and friends crowded the church and followed the remains to their last resting place. Dr. Peck's prayer was most impressive, and conveyed important lessons to the living, at the same time giving words of consolation to the afflicted and bereaved. "Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord."
