ONE OF OLD PIONEERS

A SHORT SKETCH OF THE LIFE OF MRS. STEWART-M'DONALD, DECEASED

Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Stewart-McDonald was born December 28, 1837, in Indiana, and died at Salem, Oregon, June 9, 1902, after an illness of three months of dropsy. Mrs. McDonald came to Oregon with her parents, John and Mary Stewart, in 1843, and settled at Corvallis. She was educated at the Willamette University at an early day in the early history of that institution. She was a very faithful member of the Methodist church from childhood, and died in the full faith of the Christian religion.
The surviving members of her family are as follows; Francis Scott, Garfield, Wash.; Columbus Scott, Corvallis; Mrs. Sarah Miller, Milton; Mrs. Addie E. Barger, Salem; Mrs. A. L. Alberts, Salem, and Christopher Reininger, Chicago. Calvin Stewart, Albany, is a brother, and Mrs. M. A. Dice, Brownsville, and Mrs. Sorindia Swick, Corvallis, are sisters.
