OBITUARY: 
George McGilchrist, 33, died September 30. Survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William McGilchrist, Sr., and by the following brothers and sisters: William, Jr., James and Gordon McGilchrist, all of Salem; Millar E. of Washington, D. C.; Mrs. Isabel Douglas of Berkeley, Cal.; Miss Ethel of Fresno; Miss Jean of Portland; and Nicol of Spokane. 
Funeral services Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 in the Rigdon mortuary chapel. Interment in the I.O.O.F. cemetery. Rev. Charles Ward and Rev. W. C. Kantner will officiate.

George McGilchrist, son of Mr. and Mrs. William McGilchrist, Sr., prominent Marion county residents, died at a local hospital Monday afternoon at 4:30 oÂ’clock, about an hour after an emergency operation had been performed to relieve a case of acute appendicitis. Mr. McGilchrist was in excellent health Wednesday afternoon and became suddenly ill Thursday morning. He was removed to the hospital Monday. He died without coming out from under effects of the anaesthetic. 
Mr. McGilchrist was well known in Salem. He was born near this city, in the Red Hills district, February 29, 1896, and attended the public schools at Rosedale and later high school there. Following graduation from high school he enrolled at Oregon State college his studies there being interrupted for two years during the World war while he wore his country’s khaki. Following the war, he returned to Corvallis and was graduated from the college about 1920. Upon completion of his college course, he went to Albany and established a restaurant, which he conducted until this spring, since when he had divided his time between the parental home and improvement of an acreage south of Albany. 
George McGilchrist is survived, besides his parents, by five brothers and three sisters: William, Jr., James and Gordon, all of Salem; Millard E., who is in the attorney general's office at Washington D. C., Isobel (Mrs. W. P. Douglas) of Berkeley, Calif.; Miss Ethel who is teaching at Fresno, Calif.; and Miss Jean, of Portland. Ten nephews and nieces also survive. Funeral services have not yet been completed. The remains are at the Rigdon mortuary.
