Jeanie C. (Mrs. William, Sr.) McGilchrist died October 28 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Isabel Douglas, Berkeley, Calif., age 68 years. Survived by her widower, William McGilchrist, St., mother of William Jr., James, Gordon, of Salem; Ethel of Fresno, Calif.; Mrs. Isabel Douglas, Berkeley, Calif.; Jean, Portland; Dr. Nicol M., Spokane; Millar D., Washington, D. C. Member of Chapter G. of the P.E. O. sisterhood. Funeral services Thursday, October 31 at 2 oclock in the First Congregational church. Interment in Odd Fellows cemetery, directed by Rigdon and Son, Rev. W. C. Kantner and Rev. C. E. Ward officiating. Oregon Statesman 30 Oct 1929 5:3 Mrs William McGilchrist, Sr. 

SALEM, Or., Oct. 30 - (Special) - Mrs. William McGilchrist Sr., prominent Salem woman, died Monday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. P. Douglas, in Berkeley, Cal. Mrs. McGilchrist left Salem October 16 and had intended to remain in California several weeks. Mrs. McGilchrist was born near Glasgow, Scotland, January 3, 1863. She was married in 1884, and a few years later the family came to Oregon and located in Portland. They remained there until 1893, when they moved to Salem. Besides her widower, Mrs. McGilchrist is survived by he following children; William James, and Gordon, all of Salem; Ethel of Fresno, Cal.; Mrs. W. P. Douglas, Berkeley; Jean of Portland, Dr. N. M. McGilchrist of Spokane, Wash., and Millar McGilchrist, Washington, D. C. The body will be brought to Salem, where funeral services will be held.

MRS. M'GILCHRIST OF SALEM PASSES. 
Death Takes Local Woman While Visiting Daughter at Berkeley 
Mrs. William McGilchrist Sr., prominent Salem woman died at 2:30 o'clock Monday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. P. Douglas in Berkeley, Calif. Mrs. McGilchrist left Salem October 16 to visit in the south and October 20 suffered an attack of pleurisy and bronchitis, which affected the heart. Mr. McGilchrist was summoned last Wednesday and left for Berkeley immediately. 
A letter received by the children here Monday morning stated that Mrs. McGilchrist was much better and it was thought she was well on the road to recovery until word of her death came yesterday afternoon. 
She was born in Whiteinch, a suburb of Glasgow, Scotland, January 8, 1861. She was married in 1884 in Glasgow to William P. McGilchrist and seven years later, Mr. and Mrs. McGilchrist and three children, William Jr., James and Gordon, came from Scotland direct to Portland, Oregon. 
They remained in Portland until 1893, when they moved to a farm at Rosedale, where they lived until 1906 when they moved to Salem. They have resided here continuously since that time. Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. McGilchrist in this country. Mr. and Mrs. McGilchrist spent several months on the continent and in Scotland about a year ago. Mrs. McGilchrist was prominent in the circles of the Congregational church of which she was a member, and also in chapter G., PEO Sisterhood and the War Mothers' organization. A son, George, died here September 20 after a short illness. 
Besides her widower, she is survived by the following children: William Sr., James, and Gordon all of Salem; Ethel of Fresno; Mrs. W. P. Douglas of Berkeley, Calif.; Jean of Portland, Mrs. N. M. McGilchrist of Spokane, and Millar of Washington, D. C. Chapman Scrapbook, p. 85
