OBITUARY:
A FORMER SALEMITE.
Remains of Mrs. B. J. Kelly, of Corvallis, Brought to This City for Burial.
Mrs. B.J. Kelly, of Corvallis, who lost her life as the result of an accident last Saturday morning was a former resident of Salem. The remains were brought to this city on the steamer Ruth yesterday morning and given interment in Rural cemetery, funeral services having been held at Corvallis Sunday. The deceased was the wife of Rev. B. J. Kelly, the United Brethren minister at Corvallis, and the daughter of J. B. Day, of this city, and lived with her husband in this city from 1889 to 1892, during which time they were engaged in the dairy business. Mrs. Kelly came to her death by falling down stairs about 5 o’clock Saturday morning, while walking in her sleep. As a result of the fall she received a very serious gash on the forehead, besides fracturing the spinal cord at the base of the head. Mrs. Kelly was reported in the dispatches as being a habitual somnambulist, but that was a mistake, she having but at one time prior to the occasion above recorded, walked in her sleep. The many friends of the deceased’s family in this city offer their kindly sympathy in their bereavement.
